Drive partitioning is the process of dividing a physical hard disk or solid-state drive into separate sections, known as partitions, each of which behaves like an independent storage unit.


How to change Drive partition volume in Windows?


Follow the steps given below to extend or shrink a partition:

Extend a partition


  1. Open Disk Management as administrator.
  2. Choose the volume to be extended > tap 'Extend Volume'.
  3. Tap 'Next' > Select space required to extend.
  4. Click 'Next' > 'Finish'.

Shrink a partition


  • Right-click the volume you wish to contract.
  • Tap 'Shrink Volume'.
  • Now, perform on-screen prompts.
